Educational Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering.


Professional Experience:

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in open-cut coal mine planning.
  2. High proficiency in mine planning software, especially Minex, as well as AutoCAD and Global Mapper.
  3. Solid understanding of geotechnical and hydrogeological principles as they relate to mine design.
  4. Experience with survey data integration and 3D modelling.
  5. Knowledge of Mozambique mining regulations.


Other Requirements

Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).


Specific Job Responsibility: Mine Planning & Design

  1. Develop detailed short-term (3-month) and medium-term (up to 2-year) mine plans and schedules.
  2. Design and optimize pit layouts, haulage routes, and dump configurations to balance strip ratios and coal quality.
  3. Conduct pit optimization and sequencing to maximize ore recovery and minimize waste.
  4. Perform reserve estimation and mine scheduling to ensure alignment with production targets.
  5. Monitor plan versus actual performance and make real-time adjustments for geological variances and equipment constraints.
  6. Prepare and present technical reports, plans, and progress updates to management.
  7. Ensure all mine designs comply with safety regulations, with a focus on slope stability and dump design.
  8. Identify and mitigate geotechnical and hydrogeological risks through accurate planning.
  9. Support environmental and mine closure planning by ensuring designs meet rehabilitation commitments. Support the HSE and Community Department to ensure that the operation Mine and Dump design are along with the Environment Management Plan (EMP).
  10. Coordinate closely with geology, survey, and operations teams to align plans with coal quality targets and operational reality.
  11. Integrate drone survey data and other digital tools into the planning process for enhanced accuracy and efficiency.
  12. Utilize and maintain proficiency in Minex, AutoCAD, and Global Mapper software.
  13. Develop innovative projects to improve operational efficiency.
  14. Prepare production reports: daily, weekly, monthly, and annual; as well as performance analysis;
  15. Promote continuous blasting optimization practices;
  16. Develop and review drilling and blasting plans;

Supervise the advancement and disposal of waste rock in the waste rock pile, in accordance with LOM.
