Educational Qualifications:

  1. Diploma in Mining, Geology, or an equivalent technical certification.

 

Professional Experience:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in open-cut coal mining operations.
  2. Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  3. Understanding of coal quality parameters and sampling techniques.
  4. Experience with field data collection tools and software.
  5. Knowledge of mining equipment (excavators, trucks, drills, etc.) and production processes.
  6. Knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office.

Other Requirements

  1. Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).


Specific Job Responsibility: Operational Monitoring & Support

  1. Conduct real-time monitoring of mining equipment (shovels, haul trucks, drills) during shifts.
  2. Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment malfunctions to maintenance teams.
  3. Assist survey and geology teams with field data collection and mark-out duties.
  4. Collect coal and overburden samples according to established procedures.
  5. Assist geologists in sample preparation, labeling, and data logging.
  6. Ensure accurate and timely data collection for input into planning and production databases.
  7. Act as a frontline responder for emergency situations and initial hazard identification.
  8. Conduct routine safety and compliance inspections in the operational area.
  9. Report all safety incidents, near-misses, and geotechnical hazards immediately.
  10. Ensure all activities comply with national safety and labor regulations.
  11. Oversee daily mining activities, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and waste dumping.
  12. Ensure production targets and quality standards are met according to the mine plan.
  13. Conduct daily inspections of working areas, machinery, and pit slopes.
  14. Record and report production data, delays, and incidents to Shift Supervisor.
  15. Coordinate with maintenance and planning teams for equipment availability and scheduling.
  16. Support geotechnical and survey teams in implementing pit design and mining sequence.
  17. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in production efficiency and cost control.
  18. Record drilling and blasting data.
  19. Mark and check blast patterns in coordination with the blasting engineer or supervisor.
  20. Support the surveyor or planner in validating bench elevations, haul roads, and pit limits.
  21. Ensure overburden is dumped in designated areas in line with the approved waste dump plan and design.
  22. Ensure that coal is stacked in the designated stockyard and handled in compliance with coal quality specifications

Support the team in achieving effective coordination between the mine and the processing plant to optimize coal processing from the ROM and / or stockpiles.
